| Subject: Great Egret,
Ardea alba |
| Date: 17 February 2004 |
| Locale: Ding Darling Sanctuary, Sanibel
Island, Florida |
| Photographer: Kendall W. Corbin |
| Comments: The Great Egret is
very similar in appearance to the white morph of the Great Blue
Heron. However, the bill of the egret is smaller, its back plumes
are much longer, and its legs are black rather than yellow. In
the Ding Darling Sanctuary, the Egret is the more common bird. |
