| Comments: Most owls are nocturnal,
and this is true of the pygmy owl. It is, therefore, not at all
strange that this individual remained nearly motionless while
we took our photographs. By chance alone we found it in
a spot where we could work at our leisure. A day
sooner or later the bird may have been all but inaccessible,
perched for the day on a tree jutting out of the canyon wall. |
