| Subject: Blue Giant Hyssop, Agastache
scrophulariaefolia |
| Date: 27 July 2003 |
| Locale: Kasota Prairie, Kosota, Le
Sueur County, Minnesota |
| Photographer: Kendall W. Corbin |
| Comments: This species has
at least two other names: the Purple Giant Hyssop
and the Fragrant Giant Hyssop. The latter comes from the anise-like
scent of the leaves when
crushed. As the "Giant" in its name implies, it is one of the
largest members of the mint family in North America. The species
inhabits thickets and fields from New England
to Minnesota. |
