| Comments: This
individual represents Puk-puk, the local marine crocodile, during
a Sing-Sing, which is a day-long native dance festival. The object
in his mouth is made of small cowrie shells, leather cords, and
the
white tuber of an unidentified plant. His head band was also
made of cowrie shells, and his head dress is composed of freshly
picked plants, which he replaced from time to time as the day wore
on towards evening. The dancing itself became more-and-more feverish
as more beetle-nut was consumed. |
