| Subject: Bluestem Prairie |
| Date: August 1993 |
| Locale: Bluestem Prairie, Clay County,
MN. |
| Photographer: Kendall W. Corbin |
| Comments: Thanks to the rocky
soils and boulder terraces along the beach ridges of Glacial Lake
Agassiz, Bluestem Prairie is the largest patch of prairie remaining
in Minnesota.
But this is
not
saying much because this prairie contains only a few thousand
acres of land immediately southwest of Buffalo River State Park.
Minnesota once had millions of acres of native prairie. |
